The Real Significance of Diana West’s American Betrayal

August 19, 2013 1 comment

Diana West’s American Betrayal has evoked a flurry of reactions, pro and contra, ranging from ad hominem attacks to adulation, even while folks in many instances have not read the book.  Yet while the blogosphere has focused largely on specific historical details and West’s interpretations of such details in the book, which I myself admittedly found highly convincing, confirming the writings of folks such as Ion Pacepa, Yuri Bezmenov, Anatoliy Golytsin, M. Stanton EvansPaul Kengor, Trevor Loudon, J.R. Nyquist and numerous others, I believe many of the reviews have completely belied the below broader insights of the book, in light of the current condition of Western Civilization.

1. The seeds of the destruction of the foundations of our country, via the creation of the welfare state, international policy bodies and the inculcation in and infiltration of the academia and media by leftism and leftists were planted by Communists, Communist-sympathizers and fellow travelers before and during the FDR administration

2. The anti-Communists through poor marketing and tactics, and the efforts of anti-anti-Communists in academia and the media were defeated in the court of public opinion, the effects of which continue to paralyze all those attempting to protect our freedom today, in particular the so-called counterjihadists

3. As a result of the socialists winning the war of ideas heretofore, Americans by and large are no longer able to process facts (let alone separate facts from opinion) using logic and reason in order to maintain any semblance of the Republic which was bequeathed upon them.  The narrative is paramount — facts be damned (see Martin, Trayvon)

4. All of which lead me to believe that we have converged with the socialists in the cultural, political and economic spheres.  Stated differently, we won the Cold War and lost the peace

Look at the major news stories of any given day in any mainstream publication, and tell me if these points can be disputed.

How many of Marx’s ten planks have we not yet constructed?

What sector of our economy is not either hyper-regulated or outright socialized?

What issue is not framed in terms of race, class or gender?

What do the terms, fairness, justice and equality denote in today’s vernacular?

What is the moral state of our country, and in which direction is it trending?

I believe Diana West’s thoroughly researched work is at once an eminently credible and bloodcurdling.  Even if you disagree, everyday life in 21st century America shows us that we have succumbed to the ideology of leftism, to the detriment of Western Civilization and all of mankind.

Yuri Bezmenov vs. Barack Obama

June 24, 2010 Leave a comment

KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov writing in a pamphlet circa 1985 entitled “Black is Beautiful, Communism is Not“:

I don’t want you to go home depressed. I want you to go home happy. You deserve to be happy. You look like normal people. The process of demoralization, which takes 20 years, has taken place only in part. Andropov, a year ago when he was still half alive, talking to the Kremlin assembly, said, “We (meaning communists) are entering the final stage of the battle for minds and hearts of the people.” He was not talking about invasion of El Salvador. No, he was talking about this process I just described. You have five more years, according to Andropov. Presuming that you are demoralized, which I don’t believe because you are still alive, and Andropov is dead. So is Chernenko.

What to do about this crazy situation. Believe me, the solution is ridiculously simple.

[…]

Just for the sake of experiment, listen to Schuman. It costs you nothing. My solution is simple. You don’t want to be demoralized. Stay moral. See how simple? Stay moral. What does this imply? Exactly what CAUSA is telling you. Exactly what many millions of sensible Americans who belong to a multiplicity of conservative and religious groups are telling you on TV and radio. These stations grow like mushrooms. Stay moral

And so that they [the youth] will grow up realizing that their right to live, to be free and pursue happiness, is not given by the state or federal government. It is given by God. You have to implant in the minds of your children, before it is too late, that yours is the best system.

[…]

Suppose you believe Andropov and are demoralized. Suppose we are really entering the final stage of your life, destabilization, five more years. Even then there is a solution. And again, this solution has nothing to do with more nuclear warheads. This solution is so primitive and so simple that nobody wants to listen to me, in the establishment. It is very simple, peaceful, nonviolent and very beneficial: stop aiding your enemy.

[…]

And if we are talking specifically about media like that, already I gave you the solution. Start your own media. If you read such monsters as The New York Times, or The Washington Post, or The Los Angeles Times, if you watch the garbage coming through the three major TV networks, just for curiosity’s sake, please subscribe to conservative literature. If you watch The Phil Donahue Show, just for curiosity watch Pat Robertson or Jimmy Swaggart, or Jerry Falwell; there are many others.

If you read The Los Angeles Times, read The Washington Times for a change. You will see the difference. That’s all I have to say to you. Please do it fast. Because if you pooh-pooh your system, you will follow the destiny of the Vietnamese, Cambodians, Nicaraguans, Zimbabweans and Ethiopians. And yours will be the last country.

Why am I shouting? Why am I so emotional? I am sick and tired of defecting! And believe me, if you destroy your system, you will have no place to defect to. Because your country is the last hope for mankind’s survival, freedom and justice.

President Barack Obama in his commencement address to the graduating class of 2010 at the University of Michigan:

Today’s twenty-four/seven echo chamber amplifies the most inflammatory soundbites louder and faster than ever before. It has also, however, given us unprecedented choice. Whereas most Americans used to get their news from the same three networks over dinner or a few influential papers on Sunday morning, we now have the option to get our information from any number of blogs or websites or cable news shows. And this can have both a good and bad development for our democracy.

For if we choose only to expose ourselves to opinions and viewpoints that are in line with our own, studies suggest that we will become more polarized, more set in our ways. That will only reinforce and even deepen the political divides in this country. But if we choose to actively seek out information that challenges our assumptions and our beliefs, perhaps we can begin to understand where the people who disagree with us are coming from.

Now this requires us to agree on a certain set of facts to debate from; that is why we need a vibrant and thriving news business that is separate from opinion makers and talking heads. That’s why we need an educated citizenry that uses hard evidence and not just assertion. As Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan famously said, “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts.”

Still, if you’re somebody who only reads the editorial page of The New York Times, try glancing at the page of The Wall Street Journal once in awhile. If you’re a fan of Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh, try reading a few columns on the Huffington Post website. It may make your blood boil; your mind may not be changed. But the practice of listening to opposing views is essential for effective citizenship. It’s essential for our democracy.

Leaving aside Bezmenov’s emphasis on the religious right as the antidote to socialism, which I think should be broadened more properly as Judeo-Christian morality (and with it an emphasis on justice and freedom), the irony herein is striking.

Oh and just in case you are not familiar with the concept of demoralization and Bezmenov’s contributions on Communist ideological subversion in the West, here is a visual aid:

What the Jihadis at Columbia Said

March 4, 2010 2 comments

Let me preface this post by setting the scene for you of a modern day meeting of Nazis despicably legitimized and welcome with open arms by our higher academic institutions.  Last night at the Ben White Israeli Apartheid Week event, there was a crowd consisting of far more than Muslim Columbia students.  There were also many old regular burnout socialist hippies and typical Caucasian students draped in keffiyehs, something that really makes me apoplectic given the ignorance of these people.  There was one effeminate gentlemen who I have seen at all of the pro-Palestinian Columbia events who looks similar to Waldo donning an argyle sweater, golf pants and yes, the keffiyeh.  Muslims have to laugh at the fact that they have co-opted these folks.  If only the useful idiots in the crowd realized that in a Muslim nation, they would be the first ones to be lined up and shot.

But I digress.  This event was hosted by a new group called Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine (it’s amazing how like progressives aka socialists they know how to cloak their mission in such noble garments), and the usual suspects such as the MSA, the Arab Students Association at SIPA and the blinded allies of the Islamists, the SDS, the International Socialists and Code Pink.  Also as an aside, it’s interesting that Marxists get along so well with Islamists given that Jews were and still are prominent in socialist and at the very least liberal circles.  Then again, Marx was a Jew-hating Jew himself.  So is Soros for that matter.

The goals of these groups are four-fold:

1. An end to the Israeli “occupation” and “illegal wall”

2. An end to the “discrimination against Palestinian citizens of Israel” and “equality”

3. The right of return of “Palestinian refugees” according to UN Resolution 194 (which stipulates that refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so)

4. The lifting of the “illegal” blockade

Anjali Kamat from “Democracy Now!” led off the event with a damning speech and video about the ruthless Israeli invasion of Gaza for 23 whole days.  One of the funniest things relating to Gaza was her derision towards President Obama for not giving the Palestinians more aid ($900m) after the attack relative to the $3bn a year the US will give to Israel in military aid over the next decade.  The man really can’t buy a break right now.  She lamented the fact that Israel has ignored the Goldstone Report, that fair document of as she characterized him, the “well-respected” “Zionist-leaning” Jewish Judge Goldstone.  She also talked about how the evil Israelis imposed their immoral siege after Hamas ousted Fatah in 2007, which has led to major unemployment in the Palestinian economy.

Next in the band of merry propagandists was Ben White.  This guy is probably more than a useful idiot, likely in my view an anti-Semite, the prototypical modern-day Nazi/Islamist propagandist.  The Islamists are so very good at packaging their subversive allies.  With his pretentious British accent, pithy Oxford whit and pompous air of academia, White delivered a presentation in which he argued that Israel’s establishment was anti-democratic, that the transfer of Arabs out of Israel was “ethnic cleansing” and that their upheaval was instituted by brute force.  He proposed a theory that almost all Israeli actions centered on propaganda to make Israel seem like a warm bastion of multi-culturalism and on fragmentation of the Palestinian identity between the Israeli Arabs, East Jerusalem Arabs and the Palestinians in the “occupied” territories.  He argued that Israel has confiscated land under the guise of the public interest, colonized and otherwise abrogated Arab rights through zoning and made Arabs second class citizens.

In a nutshell, according to the eminent Kaiser White, the Israeli policy is to maximize Israeli land while minimizing the population of Palestinians (he harped on the belief that the racist and supremacist Israelis are Judaizing and trying to control the size of the Arab population within its borders), while in Palestinian lands minimizing territory while maximizing the Arab population.  And with all of the disastrous concessions the Israelis have made over the years, how could anyone disagree with White.  But in the end, he moderated his message, claiming that equality for Jews and Palestinians would be a better foundation for a “lasting and just peace.”  Obviously the Muslims would be perfectly fine living side-by-side with Jews in Israel.  After all, just look at how well the Jews (if there are any left) are treated in all of the Muslim countries in the region, or in Europe for that matter.

Lastly was a speaker from Adalah-NY Andrew Kadi, who spoke about BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) of Israeli products and culture.  This presentation was important because it gave insight into the two-front battle they are fighting.  This isn’t the military front of the Arabs’ battle but their economic/propaganda front, as they are for a “principled, nonviolent Palestinian-led form of resistance.”  Besides boycotting companies that have anything to do with Israel, that they have made a major push on the cultural front immediately struck a chord.  He mentioned that Santana, Danny Glover, Jane Fonda, Bono, Snoop Dogg and Naomi Klein amongst others have refused to work with Israel in one way or another.  This is exactly what Yuri Bezmenov spoke about in what is becoming my Bible for understanding the ideological subversion of the Marxists and their military arm in the Islamists.  Bezmenov had mentioned how Fonda specifically amongst others had been supportive of (after being coopted by) the communists, and the Islamists are just a violent form of communists, so it’s no wonder she has worked with them against Israel.  That all of these people have denounced Israel in one way or another shows just how pervasive the anti-Israeli sentiment is, and winning the pop culture battle is a major step towards winning the war of ideas.

Let me make some further remarks on the event.  Besides the fact that an honest reading of history shows that the Arabs have used the “Palestinian refugees” as a political pawn in that Arab leaders told the Palestinians to leave Israel as Israel would be attacked and the Arabs would be allowed to come right back, during these speeches the Arabs NEVER spoke about the terrorist attacks on Israel and virulent anti-Semitism of the Arab world, the belief in and commitment to violent Jihad, the lack of a mention even once of Jerusalem in the Koran, the fact that Arabs have more rights in Israel and a better living standard than in every other Arabic country, that Jewish soldiers shoot rubber bullets and send texts and drop flyers in civilian areas before going in to take out those attacking them, that Jews don’t strap bombs to themselves or hide weaponry or terrorists in Synagogues or schools and that Israel has made every single (suicidal) effort to make peace with Palestinians by offering massive swaths of land and giving up massive swaths of land.  Actually I stand corrected, they did once mention how, sadly, the Qassam rockets are no match for the powerful Israeli army.  What a shame.  It is simply mind-boggling that these speakers never once mentioned why Israel has had to build a security wall and periodically go into Arab areas to rout people shooting rockets at and blowing themselves up in Israel.  Nary was there either a mention of how accommodating the Israelis have tried to be when it comes to the people who wish to push Israel into the sea.  This has never been reciprocated by the Arabs and never will be.  Islam means submission, and the three options for non-Muslims are to either submit, be converted by the sword or be slaughtered.  Some religion of peace.

I am no expert on Israel, but I have read the history, and the myth of the oppressed Palestinian refugees that continues to be perpetuated under the guise of fighting for human rights and social justice is a massive sham.  I urge everyone to read Shmuel Katz’s “Battleground” for a clear and concise history of the founding of Israel and subsequent battles the Israelis have had to fight to defend themselves.  The Arabs never even considered modern-day Israel a desirable land, while Jews had constantly returned to this area after being routed.  Israel was not just an area granted to a wandering people as reparation for the massacring of 6 million Jews during the Holocaust, a Holocaust that Ben White has seemed to indirectly question.  For the dispelling of many of the aforementioned myths, I urge readers to check out this site on human rights in Israel.  There is also more solid information here, and a lot of nuggets here and here.  The bottom line is that this is all taqiyya (Islam-justified lying), a tenet which in its application would make Marx and Alinsky blush.  As Al-Ghazzali the 11th century Muslim theologian wrote,

Know that a lie is not haram

in itself, but only because the evil conclusions to which it leads the hearer, making him believe something that is not really the case…If a lie is the only way of obtaining a good result, it is permissible…We must lie when truth leads to unpleasant results.

Jews have contributed more good (though with some self-destructive bad when you count the socialists and the Sorosites) to the world over the last hundred years proportionately than any other group of people.  This is indisputable with a good proxy being the unbelievable number of Jews who have won Nobel Prizes relative to their population, and their success has created the envy which in part contributes to the anti-Semitism.  Israel in the middle of the desert grew farms.  Israel surrounded by enemies created technologies that have made the lives of countless people worldwide easier and richer.  Israel has stood as the first battle line against the ideology of Islam that threatens to destroy all of the modern civilized world.  If you don’t want to take my word for it, I suggest looking at George Gilder’s, a WASP from a wealthy aristocratic family and former Jew-hater who too has seen the greatness of the Israeli people and the threat to all of civilization posed by its enemies.  The anti-Semites who slander Israel and insanely call it an apartheid and racist state will have blood on their hands as the west is slowly but surely consumed by Islam, and its most avid supporters who refuse to submit on the day of reckoning will be the first to perish at the point of a sword.
